Dancehall Artist Zylan’s 360 Approach to HIs Career

For Dancehall artist Zylan, creating his own 360 approach to his career helped the budding artist showcase his career while bringing attention to fellow artists along the way.

His passion for music began in his youthful days as he watched his older brother pursue his dream of becoming a performing artist.  Watching the process ignited an intensity within, causing Zylan to make a commitment to achieve success in the future.  The path he chose at the time was to become an artist and producer.

Beginning his career in 2002, Zylan began to show the world his talent by recording his impromptu basement performances on cassette tapes.  These tapes were duplicated and shared the world over receiving positive response from fans.

Soon after, Zylan joined his first group, Altaclaps (2003 – 2007), where he gained valuable experience.  In 2008 Zylan teamed with producer / manager Spoogy of MFB Music Group where the two began to hone and focus Zylan’s solo career.  The first taste of success came with “Walk Out Dun Out Deh.”  The song became a hit in the metropolitan area of Washington D.C. which led to Zylan securing live performances in the local and surrounding area.

In 2013, Zylan broadened his focus by producing the Good Intentions Riddim.  The riddim featured performances by TashAnique, Jbree, Kaliba and Scaacha – Zylan was also a feature on the riddim with the song “Go Fi Di Dream.”

In the U.S. and Jamaica Zylan welcomed the opportunity to become a promoter.  He has hosted several events including ‘Cups Up’ day rave in Portland, Jamaica where he is based.  Zylan is currently promoting his EP ‘The Present’ which is a 6-track project sharing snips of his life’s journey so far.  Topics include his faith and ambition to his perseverance and passion.

Zylan has appeared on Ablazin Radio in Washington, D.C., SunCity Radio in Portmore and Bess FM and Mega Jams Radio in Kingston, Jamaica.   His other breakout single, ‘Step Inna Mi Shoes’ recently won the “What’s The Verdict” competition on the Dudley Thompson show that airs on Roots FM in Jamaica every Saturday afternoon.
